In Search of a "Western" Face: Plastic Surgery in Asia

Korean actress Kim Nam Joo (pictured on the left) has the perfect face, according to many Asian men and women.

Her eyes are large, rounded, and creased, and her nose is defined, just like an American.

These physical characteristics are the reason plastic surgeons in Philippines, Thailand, South Korea and China are doing hundreds of plastic surgery procedures each day.

The "Western" look is all the rage in Asian countries, and many people believe that a more attractive appearance means better jobs, a better spouse, and hence, a better future.

Maybe they're right. After all, millions of Americans have undergone plastic surgery procedures as well, many of them based on similar motivations.
